Application of Guar Gum in Textile Industry

Application of Guar Gum in TEXTILE INDUSTRY

  • Guar Gum gives excellent film forming and thickening properties when used for textile sizing, finishing and printing.
  • It reduces warp breakage, reduces dusting while sizing and gives better efficiency in production.
  • It is used to make the dye solutions thick facilitating sharp printing pattern.

Thickening agents(Thickener)

The printing thickeners used depend on the printing technique, the fabric and the particular dyestuff . Typical thickening agents are starch derivatives, flour, gum arabic, guar gum derivatives, tamarind, sodium alginate, sodium polyacrylate, British gum and albumen.
Hot-water-soluble thickening agents such as native starch are made into pastes by boiling in double or jacketed pans. Most thickening agents used today are cold-soluble and require only extensive stirring.
